Spiral Dice are designed to drive complex and unexpected narratives in RPGs. When you roll, success or failure can come with positive or negative twists. While these good and bad twists are equally likely, success is more likely to come with a complication and failure is more likely to come with an opportunity. Within a single roll, there are many possibilities!

A Spiral Die is a 12-sided die with 3 different symbols – Hits, Spirals, and Spare. A set of Spiral Dice consists of 6 identical dice, meant to be rolled in a pool of 1 to 6 dice. Spirals and Spare offset, and remaining Spare or Spirals indicate a twist in one direction or the other. Hits are counted against a target number for success, and additional Hits indicate higher degrees of success. With these mechanics, it is easy to set a target number for a roll, then end up with results that spin a new vein of story.
